After a long dry spell, rains are on card for East India. Bihar and parts of Jharkhand will start receiving scattered rains February 7 onward. The harbinger of these rains will be a Trough extending from Rajasthan to Bihar. As the Trough will become more prominent rain intensity will also increase. By February 8, we expect light to moderate rains with one or two heavy spells over Bihar and Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and in isolated pockets of Jharkhand. The intensity of rains will be light and isolated over Gangetic West Bengal. Also, there are bright chances of hailstorm activities over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Bihar.

Minimums are expected to increase over Bihar, West Bengal and Jharkhand by three to four degree Celsius by February 7 and 8.

These on and off rains will continue until February 9. Weather will start clearing up over these areas from afternoon of February 10. Although weather over Bihar and parts of Jharkhand will clear up from night of February 9, but isolated light rains may continue over parts of Bihar and West Bengal then as well.

At present, all the eastern states of Bihar, West Bengal and Jharkhand and largely rain deficient. This will be the first good spell over East India, during the month of February and might help in reducing the rain deficiency to some extent.
