Heavy rains in the Nepal region and foothills of Bihar, the state of Bihar has been suffering big time. So much so that the region has been reeling under flooding conditions for quite a long time. So much so that the region has been severely affected.
The death toll has been on a rise each day. Around August 18, the toll stood at 153. However, as of now, as per media reports, the death count has increased by manifold and at least 253 people have been killed due to the incessant floods over the state of Bihar.
The death toll was at 202 only yesterday and over 50 more people have been reported to be killed in a mere day. As of now, the number of people who have been affected by the floods are around 1.26 crore in about 18 districts.

As for the death count, as per a disaster management report, 57 people have been killed alone in the Araria district of Bihar with Champaran at 48, while the count at Sitamarhi is 31. Not only this, at least 4 lakh people have been shifted to 1,358 relief camps in various parts of Bihar.

Around 28 NDRF teams comprising 118 boats and 1,152 personnel have been actively participating in the rescue and relief operations. Along with this, 16 State Disaster Response Force teams with 466 personnel have also been helping. With 70 boats, 630 Army personnel have been providing assistance in relief and rescue operations.
As per weathermen at Skymet Weather, rainfall activity is likely to reduce from parts of Bihar which will be helpful in relief operations. Also, flood conditions will witness an improvement in the coming days as rainfall activity will not be intense.
