Ram Kripal Yadav. BJP MP and former Union Minister on Wednesday night fell into a river, while he was en-route to a flood-hit region, which falls in his parliamentary constituency.
The incident occurred in Dhanarua, which lies in Rural Patna, and it falls under the Pataliputra Lok Sabha section. Yadav is also representing Pataliputra for the second sequential term.
Yadav was riding a contraption made with tire tubes attached to bamboo shafts, due to non-accessibility of boats, to cross the Dardha with a few of his supporters.
The contraption was around a couple of yards from the shore when it tilted and every one of those on board, including the MP, fell into the river. Spectators who were on the banks of the river, for receiving Yadav, jumped into the river, saving him immediately.
Yadav remained unconscious for a couple of moments during which people fanned him with their 'gamchas' (towel) to enable him to gain consciousness after which Yadav was directed to his destination.
Yadav had joined the BJP in 2014 in the wake of snapping his long ties with Lalu Prasad and his RJD.
Ram Kripal Yadav had defeated Misa Bharti, Lalu Prasad’s daughter in the Lok Sabha elections that very year, and retained for another five years. Patna is one of the 15 districts in Bihar, where flood condition has been seen after heavy rains.
