Bihar and Jharkhand being lashed by thundershowers and lightning strikes

lightning in biharBihar and Jharkhand have been witnessing lightning and thunderstorm activities for the last few days. Normally during afternoon hours, conditions become favorable for the development of thunder clouds followed by thunderstorm activities in the eastern parts of the country.

Sunday afternoon was no different as thunderstorm and thundershowers began during early afternoon hours.

Moist easterlies are prevailing in the lowers levels and a trough is extending across the eastern parts of the country. These two weather systems are causing instability over the region.

The ongoing situation will continue to prevail over many parts of North Bengal, Bihar and Jharkhand during next 48 hours. Some parts of East Uttar Pradesh will also be affected by rain and thundershowers.

The green color depicts rain, while the yellow patches indicate the possibility of moderate rains. Heavy showers are indicated by red patches.

Bihar, Jharkhand and East Uttar Pradesh witnessed good rains on Saturday as well. Jamshedpur recorded 23.8 mm of rainfall in a span of 24 hours while Gaya received 2.4 mm.
