After playing hide and seek for a while, Southwest Monsoon finally made an onset over Bhubaneswar and adjoining areas of Odisha. Usually, Monsoon arrives over Bhubaneswar around June 12, however, this year Monsoon was delayed by about a week.

Monsoon rains have also begun to lash the capital city of Odisha. In fact, during the last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Saturday, Bhubaneswar recorded a good 14 mm of rain. In fact, good rains have occurred over Bhubaneswar after a good ten days. While the city had been witnessing traces of rain for the past two to three days, good showers were missing until now.

These rains can be attributed to the cyclonic circulation which is currently over South Coastal Odisha and adjoining West Bengal, in close proximity to Bhubaneswar. Moist southerly winds have been increasing the moisture incursion over the city.

Now, Monsoon rains will continue over Bhubaneswar during the next few days. While the intensity will be on the lighter side for a few days, rains will pick up pace at around June 23. After that, a rainy spell is expected over the city which will result in pleasant weather conditions.
