Bhopal, Indore, Ujjain to witness light rains; Gwalior braces for good showers

Monsoon rains have been battering the state of Madhya Pradesh from quite a few days. From moderate to heavy and even isolated light showers, several districts of the state have been relishing Monsoon rains of varied intensity. Though rains were recorded across the state but the intensity of rains was more over East Madhya Pradesh as compared with West Madhya Pradesh.

As per Skymet Weather, a trough is extending via North Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh towards the Bay of Bengal. In the wake of this weather system, light to moderate with isolated heavy rains occurred over many districts of Madhya Pradesh. Moreover, these rains are expected to continue over most parts of the state as well.

Within a span of last 24 hours from 08:30 am on Thursday, Tikamgarh recorded very heavy rains of 52 mm, followed by Chhindwara 48 mm, Damoh 40 mm, Raisen and Seoni both witnessed 28 mm of rains each, Satna 27 mm and Bhopal recorded light rains of 9 mm.

As per Skymet Weather, East Madhya Pradesh is likely to witness light to moderate rains with a few isolated heavy spells for the next 24-48 hours. While the rain intensity over West Madhya Pradesh will be comparatively lesser. However, as the Monsoon is approaching gradually towards the northern parts of the state, Monsoon rains over North Madhya Pradesh will also increase.

Districts like Satna, Sidhi, Rewa, Jabalpur, and Damoh can expect some moderate to heavy spells while the regions in the western parts of the state like Indore and Bhopal may have to settle with a few scattered light spells only. However, Gwalior that lies in the northern region of the state may witness increase in rain activity.

As on June 29, West Madhya Pradesh is surplus by 13%, while East Madhya Pradesh is rain deficient by 18%. According to weathermen, June has ended on a deficit note for East Madhya Pradesh.
