Bhopal, Indore, Ujjain, Satna, Rewa gear up for good rains

The Monsoon period has remained pretty good for Madhya Pradesh that has been witnessing good rains. Though the Monsoon rains in East Madhya Pradesh has played better in contrast with the districts of West Madhya Pradesh.

After giving very heavy rains in the eastern part of the state, rains finally slowed down and lashed the state with light intensity showers. However, after giving rainy days in the last 24 hours, more moderate rains are expected to continue in the state.

Within the span of last 24 hours, from 08:30 am on Monday, Khajuraho recorded 52 mm of rains, Damoh 50 mm, Tikamgarh 41 mm, Jabalpur 28 mm, Nowgong 28 mm, Shivpuri 16 mm, and Guna witnessed 13 mm. While Indore witnessed 0.2 mm of rains, the capital city Bhopal failed to record rains in the last 24 hours.

As per Skymet Weather, a depression is over South Odisha and adjoining North Andhra Pradesh. This system is likely to move inward in a northwest direction towards Madhya Pradesh.

On account of its inward shifting, moderate to heavy rains are likely to occur over East Madhya Pradesh for the next 24-48 hours. Districts such as Rewa, Satna, Umaria, and Damoh can brace for heavy spells. While many districts of West Madhya Pradesh can get to see good rains by July 20 but heavy spells in the eastern districts of the state are not anticipated until July 22.

It is only after the gradual movement of the rain belt towards West Madhya Pradesh can station such as Bhopal, Indore, Ujjain, and Ratlam can witness heavy rains.

The rain intensity is also expected to be such that can trigger flood-like situation.
