The last 24-48 hours were rainier for Madhya Pradesh wherein most of the stations have recorded good spells. Particularly, the Monsoon rains have lashed the eastern region of the state more as compared with the western parts of the state.
Districts such as Sidhi, Rewa, and Satna have been fortunate enough to be gifted with moderate to heavy rains by Southwest Monsoon while the other stations such as Bhopal, Indore, and Gwalior recorded light rains only. In the last 24 hours as well, most of the stations of Madhya Pradesh recorded moderate to heavy showers.

In a span of 24 hours, Sidhi recorded 42 mm of rains, Umaria 36 mm, Nowgong 35 mm, Khajuraho 32 mm, Hoshangabad 23 mm and Shivpuri witnessed 20 mm of light rains. On the other hand, Indore, and Bhopal managed to witness light rainy traces if 2 mm and 1 mm respectively.
The reason for these rains as per Skymet Weather can be associated with a low-pressure area which is over East Uttar Pradesh. This low-pressure area is likely to intensify gradually and move over northeast Madhya Pradesh.

In the wake of this, moderate to heavy rains over the northeastern parts of the state along with light to moderate over the remaining parts of Madhya Pradesh is anticipated in the next 24 hours. Districts such as Satna, Rewa, Khajuraho, Sidhi, Umaria, and Damoh fall under the vicinity of northeast Madhya Pradesh that will receive good rains. Bhopal and Indore can also brace for some good rains.
Thereafter, as the low-pressure area will move towards the western parts of the state, intensifying in a well-marked low, moderate to heavy rains over many parts of the state can be expected. By July 13, the intensity of rainfall is likely to increase significantly over these regions.
