July 14, 2017 1:17 PM | Skymet Weather Team

The onset of the Southwest Monsoon was delayed over Bihar and the rains remained subdued throughout the month of June. However, July started on a rainy note. Intermittent rains have been occurring since last few days over eastern parts of Bihar and adjoining areas. Particularly, cities like Bhagalpur and nearby areas have been receiving good rainfall activities.

In the span of last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Thursday, Gaya recorded 18.6 mm of rainfall, Patna 3.4 mm and Bhagalpur 3.1 mm, while few traces of rain were recorded in Purnia.

According to Skymet Weather, the trough which had been earlier responsible for giving good rains over Bihar is now seen shifting towards southwards direction over Central parts of the country. Due to this shifting of the trough, rains are likely to remain subdued over Bihar and adjoining areas until July 19.
