Best time to visit Vaishno Devi as weathermen predict dry weather

January 12, 2018 11:32 AM | Skymet Weather Team

The weather has remained clear across the hills and plains of North India. Vaishno Devi and the surrounding areas have not witnessed any rain for quite some time. During this time of the year, the hills in Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand usually witness rain and snowfall, due to which many highways close. This winter season so far, there has been less rainfall and snowfall in the northern hilly states.

Earlier on December 11 and 12, good rain and snow was observed in Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh. Since then, many Western Disturbances have arrived but were not strong enough to give heavy rain and snowfall activity in Katra, Vaishno Dham or other parts of the state.

According to Skymet Weather, a feeble Western Disturbance is likely to persist until next one week. Hence, the weather is expected to remain dry in Vaishno Devi Bhawan, Katra, and adjoining areas. During this period, the sky conditions may become partly cloudy. Although, most of the time during the day, weather would be sunny, giving some relief from the winter chill.

According to the current seasonal scenario, the maximum temperatures in Katra would range between 20°C - 22°C and minimum temperature is likely to settle between 7°C - 9°C in the next few days. The minimum temperatures would not range beyond 2 to 3 degrees at the Bhawan, which would lead to chilly weather during early morning and night hours. However, the maximum temperatures would settle between 14 to 15 degrees during the day giving the devotees much relief from the harsh winters.

As per weathermen, this is the right time to visit Vaishno Devi Dham during the next one week as the possibility of rain and snowfall is bleak due to which any hindrance is not likely.
