Chhattisgarh and Odisha are in normal rain category. Chhattisgarh is surplus by 10% and Odisha by 2%. East Uttar Pradesh is still rain deficient. However, during last 3 to 4 days moderate to heavy rain has reduced the deficiency of east Uttar Pradesh from 47 % to 34%.
Rain has reduced over Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh as well as over Odisha. But another weather system, i.e. a low-pressure area is expected to develop over North Bay of Bengal near Odisha and West Bengal coast by September 20. Rain will intensify once again over Odisha, Chhattisgarh, and Eastern parts of Madhya Pradesh.
There may be moderate showers over Odisha and Chhattisgarh on September 18 and 19. East Madhya Pradesh will start receiving rain from September 20. There may be few good spells of rain over Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh between September 20 and 24.
This rainfall will further reduce the rain deficiency of East Uttar Pradesh. This may be the last significant rain spell over East India during this monsoon season.
