After witnessing good pre-Monsoon rains in the month of May, dry weather has once again made a comeback over Bengaluru. In fact, weathermen predict that these conditions are expected to continue for the next 48 hours too. This is because the off shore trough from Maharashtra to Kerala is likely to shift westwards leading to decrease in rain activity over interior parts of Karnataka including Bengaluru.
But the dry spell is not likely to make a comeback soon. Not only this, this spell will also mark the onset of Southwest Monsoon over the region.

Skymet Weather expects light rains to resume by June 3 and 4. From then on, rains and thundershowers will continue for the next few days, however the intensity of these intermittent showers will remain light to moderate around June 7. Heavy rains are not expected as of now.
"Monsoon is most likely to hit Bengaluru during this time and good rains will continue, with pleasant weather and drop in day temperatures below 30-degree mark," said Mahesh Palawat, VP- Meteorology, Skymet Weather.
The city of Bengaluru has already surpassed its monthly average rainfall of 107.4 mm for May, that too well before its scheduled date. This clearly proves that this year, the cyber city has been able to record more than twice the amount of rains.
The capital city of Karnataka witnessed hot and dry weather conditions during the initial days of May. But, rain and thundershowers finally made an appearance over the garden city during the latter part of the month, bringing some much needed relief from the blazing weather.
