Monsoon rains have begun to lash Bengaluru, leading to pleasant and enjoyable weather conditions across the capital city of Karnataka. At present, many areas of the city are witnessing good rain and thundershowers.
Southwest Monsoon is at present active over Coastal Karnataka and Monsoon rains are also likely to pick up pace over North Interior Karnataka. However, South Interior Karnataka including Bengaluru will receive less rainfall as compared to the aforementioned regions of Karnataka.

As per weathermen at Skymet, these rains are not short lived, however heavy rain is not expected like the one going on over the coastal parts of Karnataka.
Due to an off shore trough along the West Coast in the past few days, the electronic city has received only light spells. In the last 24 hours, the city had recorded 9 mm of rains. However, now this rainfall activity is likely to increase over the region.
With influence of these rains, weather will remain pleasant. These weather conditions are expected to continue over the garden city due to persistence cloud cover that will keep the hot weather far away from the city.
The normal average rainfall of Bengaluru for the month of June stands at 106.5 mm. The Karnataka city till date has already recorded 9.6 mm of rainfall.

Normally, heavy rains occur whenever a wind discontinuity or a trough forms over Interior Karnataka. In wake of this, humid winds from the Bay of Bengal and Arabian Sea reach Bengaluru pouring good rains. Else, the city does not get heavy rains unlike Mumbai that records whopping rainfall during the Southwest Monsoon period.
