Bengaluru records massive rains of 72 mm as September begins

The month of August remained a good one for Bengaluru. In fact, if rainfall figures are to be considered, the IT Hub of India has witnessed a whopping 352.3 mm of rains against its monthly mean of 147 mm. Thus, rain gods have been more than kind to Bengaluru in the month of August.

While it may have been thought that the rain saga would come to an end, heavy rains were in store for the city of Bengaluru thereafter as well. The last 24 hours were all the more rainy for Bengaluru as compared to the last ten days combined.

In a span of 24 hours from 8:30 am on Thursday, Bengaluru recorded a whopping 72 mm of rainfall. Before this, the city had only been witnessing traces of rainfall for about three days.

These heavy rains which lashed the Garden city of India can be attributed to the presence of a cyclonic circulation which has developed over the Comorin area along with a trough is extending along the Tamil Nadu Coast.

As per weathermen at Skymet Weather, more rains are expected to lash the city of Bengaluru during the next 24 hours. In fact, the possibility of a few moderate as well as heavy spells also cannot be ruled out over the city of Bengaluru.
