The record for April's, highest temperature in Bengaluru stands at 39.2 degrees, set back in 2016. The month of April this year has been extremely hot and the capital city has crossed 37 degrees for a record 14 days. The searing heat is likely to continue well into the beginning of May 2024. The Peninsular India trough which triggers the pre-monsoon showers remains displaced. This feature is likely to get back to its place in the first week of May. The temperature during this period may rise further, nearing the 39-degree mark. Pre-monsoon showers worth some relief are unlikely before 05 May 2024. April 2024 may go on record as one of the hottest in recent history.
