Skymet Weather had already predicted of some light pre-Monsoon rains to reappear over Bengaluru and the city did not prove it wrong. On the past day, Bengaluru recorded one mm of rains. Prior to this, the city had recorded some rains on April 16.
The reason for these rains as per Skymet Weather can be associated with the wind discontinuity which is seen from Rayalaseema to Tamil Nadu across South Interior Karnataka.
As of now also, the city is likely to continue to get some more light pre-Monsoon showers for the next 24 hours. Isolated thunderstorm activities along with isolated rains are possible in some parts of the city today as well.

Pre-Monsoon rains generally pick up pace in the month of April and increase significantly in the month of May. Till date, the city has recorded a total of 27 mm of rains as against its monthly mean of 41.5 mm.

In the month of April, the average maximum for Bengaluru is at 34 degrees Celsius and the minimums at 22 degrees Celsius. The city has been following this trend as the maximums have been constantly remaining near or marginally above 34ºC. In fact, there have been occasions wherein the day temperatures had even settled below its normal levels.
Similarly, the minimums of the city had also remained under check and close to its monthly normal. Thus, it can be said that Bengaluru has been witnessing comfortable weather conditions. Moreover, in the wake of expected light rainy spells, the temperatures are likely to fall further.
However, the intensity of these rains would remain light in nature. The duration of these rains would also be short-lived and would occur during the late afternoon hours which is one of the characteristics of pre-Monsoon rains.
