Parts of Karnataka have been witnessing rains from the past 24 hours courtesy the weather system in the Bay of Bengal. Bengaluru’s HAL Airport recorded 104 mm of rains in the last 24 hours whereas Bengaluru city recorded 30 mm of rains. This particular episode is considered as one of the heaviest downpours in this month.
Presently that is until September 23, Bengaluru Rural has recorded 328.6 mm of rains against the normal of 427.7 mm and is lagging with a deficiency of 23%.
Whereas Bengaluru urban recorded 354 mm of rains against the normal of 432.3 mm and is deficient by 18%. The normal rains in September for the city are 212.8 mm and it has to date recorded 106 mm only which is less than 50% of the monthly average.
Forecast for Bengaluru:
Although we expect moderate showers during the next one or two days over the city, by September 26 rainfall activities will drop significantly with only patchy rains in sight. Thus, we can say that these rains will not be helpful in covering up the deficiency.
For the last three days, moderate showers are being witnessed in the city. However, the last good spell was on September 17 and since then the weather has not turned dry to date. There were only three occasions when no rain was recorded by the observatory and the days were September 11, 14 and 21.
The rest of the month, light to moderate rains were a sight and the cloud cover with these light rains helped in keeping the temperature under control. The maximums most of the time were somewhere between 26°C to 28°C and on certain occasions it rose to 32°C. While the minimums were somewhere between 20°C- to 21°C.
This gives us a clear picture that mornings and nights have been cool throughout the month.
