Pre-Monsoon rain in Bengaluru, Mysore and Hassan for the next three days

April 17, 2019 3:21 PM | Skymet Weather Team

Bengaluru is known for its pleasant weather conditions round the year. However, April and the month of May till now has been the hottest for the state capital. As of now, Bengaluru is witnessing high temperatures. For the month of April till date, the day temperatures exceeded 35°C and at times it has even gone beyond 35 degrees. The normal for the state of Bengaluru is 34°C. This increase in mercury can be attributed to the absence of pre-Monsoon rains and thundershowers.

On April 8 and 9, very little rains of only 3 mm have been recorded so far in comparison to the monthly average of 41.5 mm of rains.

However, relief from hot weather is in sight as pre-Monsoon activities are all set to pick up pace over the city. Most of the activities here in Bengaluru occur in association with a trough which has an oscillating nature. Looks like the coming three days would witness favourable spells over the city. The precipitation will be a sight from today till April 20. These light to moderate activities would be of short duration and will be seen either during late afternoon or evening hours.

Along with Bengaluru, places like Mysore and Hassan too would witness rain and thundershowers. Also, as per the data, till date for the pre-Monsoon season, Bengaluru rural and urban are rain deficit by 79% and 90%, respectively.

The pre-Monsoon activities are prominent in South Interior Karnataka including the capital city, Bengaluru. By virtue of it’s elevation, the plateau’s average height is about 3000 feet above sea level. This acts as an additional trigger and push in terms of having pre-Monsoon activity.
