A Cyclonic Circulation now lies over Interior Tamil Nadu and a Trough is extending from Low-Pressure Area over North Madhya Pradesh and adjoining Uttar Pradesh to North Tamil Nadu across Telangana.

As per the experts, the Trough is likely to move further eastward. The southwesterly moist winds from the Arabian Sea are also reaching over Karnataka and Kerala. In the last 24 hours, scattered moderate rains were seen over Karnataka with light to moderate over Kerala while the temperature remained below normal over these states. In the next 24 hours, widespread light to moderate rain and thundershowers is very likely over South Karnataka and Kerala with mainly light over North Karnataka.

Though the Monsoon season has officially come to an end still the rainfall activity is not likely to seize over the Southern Peninsula.

As per our experts, due to the movement of Trough line and its associated Cyclonic Circulation, rainfall activity is likely to enhance over Karnataka and Kerala in the next 48 hours and mainly moderate rains with isolated heavy spells will be a sight. Thereafter, intermittent isolated moderate rain will continue over the states for the next couple of days.

In the next 24 hours, it is expected that Bengaluru, Mysore, Chitradurga, Agumbe, Mangalore, Karwar in Karnataka while Kannur, Kozhikode, Palakkad, Kochi, and Idukki in Kerala are likely to see light to moderate rainfall activity. Thereafter, mainly moderate rains with isolated heavy spells can be a sight over these regions.

Coastal Karnataka along with North and South Interior Karnataka this Southwest Monsoon season ended with a surplus of 23% rainfall whereas Kerala departed with normal rains of 13%.
