Southwest Monsoon has been very generous for the state of Madhya Pradesh this year. This is clearly shown by the rainfall surplus figures of the state.
In fact, the present weather situation also states that there will be a few more good spells of Monsoon showers over the region. These rains can be attributed to the cyclonic circulation which is currently over Chhattisgarh and adjoining areas. This system is likely to move further in a west direction. Moreover, a trough is also extending from East Uttar Pradesh up to Northeast Madhya Pradesh.
The weather activity is expected to continue over most parts of East Madhya Pradesh and some parts of West Madhya Pradesh. Widespread light with isolated moderate rains are likely over South-Southeast parts of Madhya Pradesh and few pockets towards Northeast Madhya Pradesh.
Rainfall recorded during the last 24 hours: Rewa received 70 mm of rainfall, Khandwa 33 mm, Satna 27.2 mm, Jabalpur 10.2 mm, Bhopal 8 mm and Umaria 6 mm. The present weather situation permits that the rainfall will continue over the area for the time being.
At present, East Madhya Pradesh is rainfall surplus by 18% whereas West Madhya Pradesh is rainfall excess by 19% than the normal rainfall.
