At present, hills of North India are relishing some comfortable weather conditions, while the plains of the region are reeling under heatwave.

According to Skymet Weather, the feeble Western Disturbance prevailing over North Jammu and Kashmir and adjoining areas have given scattered light rain and thundershower activity over Jammu and Kashmir. In fact, isolated showers also occurred over Uttarakhand.

In the last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Monday, Gulmarg recorded light rain to the tune of 4 mm, Banihal 2 mm, Qazigund 0.4 mm and Srinagar 0.2 mm of rains.

Now, this feeble Western Disturbance is moving away. Therefore, we expect rains to reduce over the hilly states of the Western Himalayas. In wake of the reduced pre-Monsoon rains, both the maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to settle above normal.

As per Skymet Weather, scattered rains over Uttarakhand are likely on June 1 and June 2. Uttarakhand will receive scattered rains due to the strengthening of humid southeasterly easterly winds from the Bay of Bengal. These winds will remain confined to the state of Uttarakhand only and will not affect Himachal Pradesh and Jammu Kashmir. Thus, weather of Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh will remain almost dry.

In fact, the weather in Vaishno Devi will also remain dry and cool with clear sky conditions. Thus, it seems to be the best time to visit the Vaishno Devi shrine as there will be no weather hindrance during the next few days. Meanwhile, the weather across the hill stations will remain comfortable and not cool due to the increase of temperatures.
