It seems like sizzling summer heat has made an appearance over the desert state of India way before it actually should have. Temperatures are running well above the normal levels. So much so that several cities in Rajasthan are recording maximums above the 40-degree mark.

One such city where maximums have been soaring sky high is Barmer. Here, the maximum temperature at present is settling at 44.4 degree Celsius which happens to be at least 7 degrees above the normal levels.

Not only this, the current maximum temperature happens to be the highest since the past five years. The last time the city recorded such high maximums during the month of March was in both 2012 and 2015 when the maximum reached 42 degrees.

These weather conditions can be attributed to the presence of dry westerly-southwesterly which have been blowing from the Pakistan region. Several areas in the state have been recording maximums above the 40-degree mark.

At present, no weather system is affecting the Rajasthan region. Thus, no rainfall is likely in the coming days. As far as temperatures are concerned, they will only keep rising further. Nights are also quite warm with the minimum in Barmer settling at a whopping 27.9 degrees which is again 7 degrees above the normal levels.

As per weathermen at Skymet, these weather conditions will continue to prevail over the region as no change in wind direction is expected in the next 24 to 48 hours. Thus, Barmer will continue to settle way above the normal levels.
