Barmer recorded a whopping 44.5 degrees Celsius, making it the new highest maximum across India yesterday for the season. This is the first maximum in Barmer wherein it has crossed the 44 degree mark. This maximum is about 6 degrees above the normal levels.

Usually for Rajasthan, three pockets remain the hottest including Phalodi, jaisalmer and Barmer. However, the increased maximum has spread to parts of Bikaner and Jodhpur as well.

The reason for such sky high maximum is the presence of dry weather conditions over north India and a dry feeble circulation which is coming up over Rajasthan region. The circulation will alter the wind pattern and the wind speed is expected to slow down resulting in even higher temperatures.

At the moment, the region is seeing heat wave conditions, but in the next two to three days, there may be severe heat wave conditions, more over the western parts as compared to the eastern regions.
