Bareilly receives good Monsoon showers, surpasses monthly average rainfall

After Monsoon made its advancement over Bareilly giving heavy rain over the city on Thursday, June 25, good showers have again lashed the city giving the residents a break from the scorching heat. In the last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Monday, Bareilly received 118 mm of rain which is the second highest 24 hour rainfall record for the month of June in the last ten years.

However, the highest rainfall in 24 hours in the last ten years and the all-time rainfall record still stands at 193.7 mm which was observed on June 26, 2013. On June 25, Bareilly had recorded 91.6 mm of rain, which is the third highest 24 hour rainfall record in the last decade. Until yesterday, this amount was also highest of the season.

After yesterday’s spell of rain, Bareilly has surpassed its monthly average rainfall. The rainfall figures for the month of June have reached 250 mm against the monthly average of 146.8 mm. The month of June ended on a positive note with heavy showers improving the rainfall deficiency of the area.

Before these Monsoon rains, Uttar Pradesh was the most rain deficient region in the country. West Uttar Pradesh, which observed rainfall deficit of 57% before good showers lashed the city. After June 25, the deficit improved to 15%. The most recent spell of rain in the state has improved the conditions resulting in normal rainfall in the region.
