Southwest Monsoon marked its arrival in Bangalore on June 9 and thereafter, the city has been enjoying light to moderate rainfall almost every day. These showers range from a traceable amount to double-digit figure.
During last 24 hours from 08:30 am on Monday, the city recorded a light rainy spell of 3 mm. Temperature also witnessed a dip and the maximum daily settled below 30°C while the minimum went below 25°C.
The monthly average rainfall of Bangalore for the month of June is 89.1 mm and the city has already surpassed its monthly average by recording a total of 123 mm showers till date.
The topology of Bangalore is generally flat and the city lies in a plateau region, at an average elevation of about 3000 ft. This adds on to the pleasant weather conditions for the city. Moreover, the western parts of the city are hilly areas. The maximum temperature of Bangalore usually remains in 30’s and the minimum mostly below 25°C.
There is a persistent cloud cover in the city, especially during the forenoon hours. However, this is not the heaviest rainy season for the city as heavy rains usually take place during the fag end of Monsoon. The situation is likely to remain conducive for the city to experience light to moderate showers during next 3 to 4 days as well.
During the last few days, the city has been receiving very light rains and it will continue to receive on and off rains for the next couple of days.
