After remaining dry for two to three days, once again the garden city is ready to get some good rain and thundershowers. At present, various parts of the city are observing squally winds with cloudy sky.
This weather system is persisting due to an upper air trough that is affecting the region. This system is currently extending from Bihar up to South Interior Karnataka across Telangana in lower levels. This system is travelling very close the city which means that the rain activity over Bangalore can start today.
The moisture incursion has increased over Bangalore leading to cloud development, thus resulting in rain and thundery activities from today evening onwards.
As per Skymet Weather, light to very light rain and thundershowers are expected to continue for another 24 to 48 hours. Thereafter, dry and clear weather will start prevailing over the city. These showers will accompany with strong gusty winds.
This would in turn, bring down night temperatures gradually, while day maximums will stay on the upper end.
In fact, Weathermen has predicted that rain and thundershowers will continue over many parts of Karnataka for next 24 hours as well.
For the first week of March, Bangalore remained dry, but thereafter on and off showers has drenched the state of Karnataka including Bangalore. With these showers, the city has already surpassed its monthly average rainfall of 18.7 mm.
