Bangalore to receive some rain soon

May 4, 2016 12:46 PM |

Bangalore, get ready to receive some rainBangalore weather has remained exceptionally hot for quite some time now. Temperatures have been settling well above the normal levels. So much so that during the last 30 days, Bangalore has not even once recorded its maximum below the 35-degree mark.

While the city has remained mostly dry for the past one month, Pre-Monsoon showers are all set to make a prolonged appearance over Bangalore. The city did witness scattered thundershower activity on May 2. Now, until May 8, scattered thundershowers are expected over the Garden City of India.

While the possibility of isolated thunderstorm activity cannot be ruled out today as well, the intensity is expected to increase by tomorrow. May 6 may also witness some rainfall activity during the latter part of the day.

Usually, during the Pre-Monsoon season, convective clouds form due to the available moisture and accumulation of heat which further results in thunderstorm/thundershower activity. The life span of these convective clouds is short i.e. around two hours. Sometimes, regeneration of these clouds also takes place.

Between May 5 and 7, short spells of good thundershowers with strong winds are expected over the Silicon Valley of India. By May 9, the intensity of these rains will reduce. However, on and off Pre-Monsoon rains with a few gaps in between will continue throughout the month of May.
