Bangalore receives light rain after prolonged dry spell

August 13, 2016 12:23 PM |

Bangalore RainsBangalore has witnessed a mixed spell of Monsoon season this year. The month of June as well as July were rainy enough for the city. So much so that the silicon city even recorded heavy showers on several occasions.

The best part was that by the end of July, Bangalore was witnessing a rainfall surplus of a whopping 113 percent. However, the month of August has only brought bad news for Bangalore as far as rains are concerned.

The silicon city has remained practically dry since the beginning of August. Only traces of rainfall has been recorded over the city and that too on just a couple of occasions. However, rain gods have shown a slight kindness over the city and scattered light showers have been observed over some parts.

During the last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Friday, Bangalore observatory recorded 6.4 mm of rain. Also, 0.8 mm rainfall was recorded over Bangalore Airport.

These rains can be attributed to a feeble trough which developed over the interior parts of Tamil Nadu and adjoining parts of South Interior Karnataka.

However, the city will once again witness dry weather conditions and chances of good showers are ruled out from the city. Even now, Bangalore continues to remain excess by 67 percent. However, this rainfall surplus will reduce significantly as no rains are in sight.
