Bangalore receives good rain, reaches close to its monthly averageThe month of August has not been exceedingly good for Bangalore in terms of rainfall. The capital city of Karnataka has been receiving on and off rain. However, during the first ten days of the month of August, Bangalore did not receive a single spell of heavy rain. But, from August 11 to Aug 16, the city has received a few good spells.

In the past 24 hours, many parts of Bangalore have received good Monsoon showers. According to the rainfall data available with Skymet, the city has observed 27.3 mm of rain. The monthly average rainfall for Bangalore in August is 142.3 mm. So far, till August 16, the city has already received 78.6 mm rain, which is more than half the monthly rainfall.

Now, a trough has developed over south Interior Karnataka and adjoining Tamil Nadu. Therefore, good rains will continue over South Interior Karnataka including Bangalore for at least 2 to 3 days.

During the aforementioned period, many parts of the city will receive moderate to heavy rain. As the weather system is not very strong, these rains will be patchy in nature. This means that intense Monsoon showers will occur at many places for a short duration. Bangalore may reach close to its monthly average in next 3 to 4 days.
