Bangalore receives good rain, more in the offingDuring the month of September, Southwest Monsoon retreats from India. However, the arrival of the Northeast Monsoon overlaps with the Southwest Monsoon retreat. Thus, September is the rainiest month for the silicon city and true to its nature, the month has showered some good rainy spells in Bangalore.

In the last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Sunday, Bangalore has recorded 37.1 mm of rainfall with heavy spells at a few places. Also, on September 5, the city had received 24 mm of rainfall. This means that Bangalore has already recorded 61 mm of rainfall in the first seven days of September against the monthly average rainfall of 241 mm.

Bangalore does not receive very heavy spells during the month of August. The monthly average rainfall for August is 142.3 mm. Till August 16, the city had already received 78.6 mm of rainfall, which is half of the monthly average rain.

Bangalore receives good Monsoon showers during the Southwest Monsoon period. The city also observes good rains during the Northeast Monsoon as well. During winter, the city does not record good rainfall activity. The state capital of Karnataka observes subdued rainfall activity during the period starting from December till the month of May.

Though according to Skymet, for the next four to five days, Bangalore will observe a rainy spell of varying intensity. The rainfall figures are likely to cross the 100 mm mark in the aforementioned time period.
