Bangalore rains have made a grand comeback during the month of June. While the month of April remained hot and dry, May was slightly better with the city managing to surpass its monthly average rains. The month of June has become even better.
During the last 24 hours, Bangalore observatory has recorded a whopping 47.7 mm of rain. Not only this, other parts of the city have also recorded good rains during this period. In fact, many trees have reported to be damaged over a few areas. Also, traffic woes continued and social media was taken by storm with tweets of rains.
So far, until 8:30 am on June 7, Bangalore has received a good 80 mm of rain. In fact, the monthly average rain for the capital city of Karnataka stands at 89.1 mm, which is expected to be surpassed very soon. In fact, with more than 3 weeks left in June, the city may also end up breaking the all-time monthly record of June.
Bangalore’s all time 24-hour rain record stands at 101.6 mm which was received on June 16, 1891. Also, during the last ten years, Bangalore has managed to receive 100 mm rain in 24 hours on June 1, 2013.
During the next few days, until Monsoon makes its onset over Bangalore, on and off rainfall activity will continue over the city. Temperatures will remain under check resulting in pleasant weather conditions over the city.
