Bangalore rains witnessing a declining trend

During month of August, on and off rains were pouring over Bangalore but since the beginning of September, the state capital has been witnessing dry weather conditions.

However, occasional light showers have been observed at isolated places. In fact, in the last 24 hours as well, Bangalore has managed to witness mere spells of 0.4 mm only. But, due the absence of any significant weather system, possibilities of heavy showers are ruled out as of now.

The average monthly rainfall for Bangalore stands at 119.2 mm and till date, the state capital has managed to witness merely 6.1 mm of wet spells. Hence, as of now, Bangalore rains are far lagging behind in achieving their daunting monthly target.

However, as there are chances of a Monsoon trough forming over Bay of Bengal towards interior parts of Karnataka and Tamil Nadu, few light spells are expected.

Rains are expected to pick up pace over south interior Karnataka including Bangalore by September 9. Thereafter, on and off scattered light to moderate rains are likely to continue.
