Since last 48 hours many parts of Bangalore have been receiving moderate rain and thundershower as Monsoon like rainfall activity has already picked up pace in most parts of Kerala. Moderate winds from Arabian Sea from westerly direction are reaching interior peninsular India including south interior Karnataka.
Therefore humidity has increased over entire area along with rain intensity and spread that has already increased. Now we expect that scattered rain and thundershowers will continue over Bangalore till June 1. Thereafter intensity is expected to increase and frequent spell of rain and thundershower will commence.
Today, as on May 29, cloud cover has already increased and sky of Bangalore is cloudy and we expect thundershower activity during late evening and night. This will hamper the finals of IPL that is being played at M. Chinnaswamy stadium in the city.
As these rains are pre-Monsoon rains therefore most probable times are late afternoon and evening and sometimes during early morning hours.
Weather normally clears up during noon, and again as the temperature starts rising and due to high temperature and available humidity in the atmosphere leads to cloud formation.
During this time of the year convective clouds form during afternoon and thundershower & thunderstorm activities are expected.
As we will advance in the second week of June, these thundershower & thunderstorm will be replaced by continuous rains and transition from pre-Monsoon to Monsoon will take place.
On and off rain and thundershower will continue over Bangalore.
