Bangalore had been witnessing dry weather conditions for quite some time now. So much so that the city had not received even a mm of rainfall during the first few days of January.

However, rains have finally made an appearance over the state of Karnataka long with parts of Bangalore. In fact, South Interior Karnataka has been receiving scattered rains for the past 48 hours. These rains can be attributed to a trough which was extending from North Tamil Nadu to Gulf of Mannar.

During the last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Friday, Chintamani recorded 2 mm of rainfall along with Mysore where 2 mm rain was witnessed. Traces of rains were also recorded in Bangalore.

Now, this trough has shifted towards the southern areas of Tamil Nadu. However, scattered rains are expected to continue over South Interior Karnataka including Bangalore for another 24 to 48 hours.

Though rains will be patchy and intensity will be light only. By evening hours of January 30, weather is likely to clear up and bright sunshine will take over. Thereafter, the possibility of development of a weather system in the Southern Peninsula during the next 10 to 12 days is highly unlikely.
