Southwest Monsoon made its onset over Bangalore on June 9. While the silicon city recorded a whopping 48 mm of rainfall on June 7, rainfall intensity decreased over Bangalore since then. However, yesterday, good Monsoon showers once again lashed Bangalore.

During the last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Monday, Bangalore recorded a good 15.7 mm of rainfall. With these rains, Bangalore has surpassed its monthly rainfall in just two weeks. While the monthly average rainfall for Bangalore stands at 89.1 mm, Bangalore has already received 103.2 mm of rain so far.

With more than 15 days left in June, the city may even end up breaking its all-time monthly rainfall record which stands at 228.2 mm recorded in the year 1998.

Light rain has begun over many parts of the city today as well which is expected to continue for some time and keep the temperatures well under check. While Bangalore may not receive heavy rains during the next few days, on and off rains will continue over the garden city.

Due to these rains, temperatures have also taken a dip over the city. Currently, the maximum in Bangalore has been settling at 26.3 degree Celsius, which is three degrees below the normal levels. The minimum temperature has been settling at 20 degrees which is normal for Bangalore at this time of the year.

A system is expected to form in the Bay of Bengal around June 16. This system may result in a few spell of good showers of Bangalore around June 17 and 18. Until then, patchy rains will continue over Bangalore.
