From June 1 onward, Bangalore has been continuously receiving rains on a daily basis. Only on three occasions, i.e. on June 2, 4 and 16 have the city not observed any rains.

During last 24 hours from 08:30 am on Tuesday, Bangalore has recorded 4.6 mm rainfall. Monthly average rainfall recorded for the city for the month of June is 89.1 mm, however, the ‘Silicon City’ has already achieved more than double of its monthly average.

As on June 29, the capital city of Karnataka has recorded 187 mm of rainfall. Light showers were observed at many parts of Bangalore today as well. Unfortunately, the city will not be witnessing any signs of rains for another 3 to 4 days. Monsoon is expected to remain subdued over interior Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Rayalaseema. But rain is foreseen to commence again by July 5. However, rain is still expected to be scattered and intensity will be on a lesser side ranging in between 5 mm and 10 mm.

However, July is expected to be a much rainier month than June. As per Skymet’s rain model, rainfall will once again pick up pace from July 10 and some good showers are predicted too in the later part of the month.

In fact, the monthly normal for July is also likely to be comparatively on a higher side. Thus, Bangalore surpassing the monthly average for July cannot be ruled out.
