Bangalore records highest rainfall in 100 years

bangalore-rainAfter Chennai, it’s Bangalore that has recorded highest rainfall in last 100 years in November during Northeast Monsoon. The city has recorded 290.4 mm of rain in November so far, surpassing the all-time high monthly rainfall record that stands at 252.2 mm.

Not only this, city has also exceeded seasonal average rainfall of 226.1 mm that comprises of October, November and December.

According to Skymet Meteorology Division in India, rain in Bangalore is likely to continue till November 28. Thereafter, the intensity of rains will increase and some good showers may lash the city.

Bangalore has been consecutively witnessing some weather activity for last 15 days. This has made the weather over the city very pleasant with both day and night temperatures settling around 25°C and 18°C, respectively.

A low-pressure area in East-central Arabian Sea combined with a trough over Comorin region and adjoining areas have been giving rain over Peninsular India including Bangalore.

Bangalore does not witness much rainfall during November and its monthly normal rainfall is just 54.5 mm of rain. As per statistics, October is the rainiest month for Bangalore during the season.
