Bangalore is only city in India which is famous for its pristine weather all throughout the year but at the same time, the pollution of its lakes makes the city unsuitable for living. The city recently reported fire eruption at one of its lakes.
Yesterday evening around 4 pm, fire erupted at Bellandur Lake in Bangalore, causing huge clouds of smoke to engulf the area. This caused immense traffic hazard for the drivers.
The lake is infamous for its uncontrollable levels of pollution. The lake more often than not, oozes out foam so heavily that it can be seen on roads nearby. While other times the flames leap off the water.
But this time the size of the fire was huge, which rolled out thick clouds of smoke causing a major hazard for those driving on the roads nearby. The fire is supposed to be caused by the clumps of dry hyacinth and weed around the lake.
But experts say that they are not clear yet if the toxic chemicals that are poured into the lake caused the fire to outbreak. Residents from the neighbourhood claim that the weed and dry grass are burnt regularly without any supervision.
Bellandur and Varthur are other two major lakes in Bangalore that have been ruined due to constant dumping of untreated sewage and chemicals from small factories.
