Bangalore fails to surpass monthly mean despite steady Monsoon rains

August 26, 2016 2:51 PM |

Despite light Monsoon rains, Bangalore fails to surpass monthly meanBangalore has been receiving very light to light for the past few days. In fact, since August 13 there hasn’t been one day when the silicon city has remained completely dry. However, these rains have been patchy in nature and the intensity hasn’t even been moderate at all.

During the last 24 hours, the capital city of Karnataka has recorded a few moderate rainy spells. Bangalore recorded 15 mm of rainfall in a span of 24 hours from 8:30 am on Thursday. These rains have also resulted in cool weather conditions over the city.

So far, Bangalore has received a mere 49.6 mm of rain against its monthly average of 142.5 mm. Thus, Bangalore has until now only received about one-third rain in August as compared to its monthly mean.

Now, during the next 24 to 48 hours, the city will receive light to moderate rains. These rains will be attributed to the low pressure which is currently over west-central Bay of Bengal off the Andhra Pradesh coast.

However, these rains will not be able to help Bangalore to surpass its monthly rains. In fact, chances are that Bangalore may not be able to record a three digit rainfall figure in August. The only good news is that in the coming days, weather conditions will continue to remain cool.
