Once again a rainy weekend is likely across India. Back to back spells of rain are likely to affect large parts of the country. Prolonged spells of rain will come as a welcome relief from the rising temperatures in most parts of the country.
Rain in North and East India
The first spell of rain will commence over the hilly states of Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand on the March 28 and will continue for the next couple of days.
A fresh western disturbance and induced cyclonic circulation could be attributed to this spell of rain. The system will gradually bring the plains of Punjab, Haryana and Delhi under its purview byMarch 29.
Rain will reduce over North India on the 31st and pick up once again from the first day of April. The fresh system will first affect the hills and then gradually come down to the foothills.
The plains of Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, west Uttar Pradesh and north Madhya Pradesh will start receiving rain from April 2. Precipitation will continue throughout the first week of April, but with varied intensity. We cannot rule out the possibility of rain in rest of East India including Bihar, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh and parts of West Bengal.
Rain in Northeast India
Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Northeast India were devoid of any weather activity for a long time. But this region will remain the hotspot in terms of weather activity for the next 10 days.
Rain in Peninsular India
Peninsular India is also witnessing pre-monsoon activity. Coastal and madhya Maharashtra received good amounts of rain on Thursday. This region remains susceptible to hailstorm during late afternoon and evening hours. Rain will continue over here and gradually spread across Marathwada and Telangana by March 31. Northern parts of Karnataka could also receive some rain.
