Avalanche strikes Sikkim, loss of life and property reported

A tragic incident has occurred near Sikkim's Nathu La mountain pass where a massive avalanche struck and resulted in the death of seven people, including a child and a woman. It is reported that around 150 tourists were in the area when the avalanche struck, and 5-6 vehicles carrying around 20-30 tourists are feared to have been stuck under the snow.

The Indian Army has reported that 23 tourists have been rescued, including six who were found in a deep valley and shifted to nearby medical facilities. The search and rescue mission is currently underway by the Army, State Disaster Management Team, and Police to find those missing and trapped under the snow.

Nathu La Pass is a major tourist destination situated on the border with China, and the incident has led to the rescue of around 350 stranded tourists after the snow was cleared from the road.

Videos from the site showed the magnitude of the tragedy, with dozens of people involved in rescue operations and trying to dig out those who are trapped.
