August begins on a rainy note in Delhi

August 1, 2016 7:51 AM |

August begins on a rainy note in DelhiDelhi rains have been a little too kind for the past few days. So much so that the city has even recorded rain in three digits at 144 mm. This also happens to be the highest 24 hour rains in July in a decade.

While residents may have thought that the month of July ended on a rainy note and come August and humid weather note, rain gods have given us all a pleasant surprise. As reiterated by Skymet Weather, Delhiites woke up to a rainy first morning of August 2016.

Several parts of Delhi along with the NCR region including Noida, Gurugram, Faridabad, and Ghaziabad have been observing good rains since the early morning hours. While the last 24 hours were not too fruitful and only isolated rains were recorded, Monsoon rains have picked up pace once again.

These rains can be attributed to the upper air cyclonic circulation which is currently stationed over Haryana adjoining North Rajasthan and Punjab. During the next 24 hours, on and off rains will continue over Delhi and the NCR region. Thereafter, rain intensity will reduce for some time, however, rains will pick up pace once again around the weekend. In fact, it is safe to say that a rainy weekend is in store for the national capital.
