Since the onset of Monsoon, rains have never seized over the state of Kerala. Although during the last few days, subdued rainfall activity was going on over the state of Kerala.
However, during the last 24 hours, rains picked pace but moderate to heavy rainfall activity was observed over many parts of Kerala. In fact, Thiruvananthapuram recorded heavy rain to the tune of 91 mm, which was also the highest rainfall recorded for this city in the decade, as very rarely this city records heavy rains as compared to other cities.

In the last 24 hours from 08:30 am on Monday, Alappuzha recorded 82 mm of rain, followed by Punalur 59 mm, Kottayam 58.8 mm, Kochi 57 mm, Karipur 52 mm, Kanyakumari 27 mm, Kannur 22 mm and Kozhikode 21 mm.
At present, a feeble trough has developed over Interior Kerala and adjoining South Tamil Nadu region. Due to this, rainfall activity has increased significantly over many parts of the state.
Further also we expect moderate to heavy rainfall activity to continue over Kerala for the next 24 hours as well. Rains will be more over the coastal parts of Kerala.
Thereafter, intensity of rain will reduce and only light rains with few moderate spells will continue in the coming two to three days.
Thus, we can say that good rainfall activity is likely to continue over the state of Kerala.
