The state of Himachal Pradesh had been witnessing almost dry weather conditions for the past few days. Rains of significant intensity and amount had been missing from the state due to the absence of a significant weather system over the city. Moreover, the Western Disturbances which were affecting the Western Himalayan region were not strong enough to cause rains over the entire state of Himachal Pradesh.

However, an active Western Disturbance finally did approach the Western Himalayas and has been giving rain and snow over many parts of Jammu and Kashmir as well as Himachal Pradesh for the past two days. These rains have been widespread and heavy in nature and intensity.
