Mumbai Rains

The past week has been the rainiest for the city of Mumbai with each day recording rains of some intensity and four occasions of three digit rainfall for the maximum city.

In fact, so far, the city of Mumbai has recorded a total of 772 mm of rains, which happens to be more than double the amount of its September mean of 341 mm.

Mumbai has easily managed to surpass its decade long monthly record of 756.5 mm, which was recorded in the year 2016. The all time September record for the city of Mumbai stands at 920 mm.

Rainfall in Mumbai has been a bumper season with the city witnessing more than 3000 mm

Today, so far, Mumbai has recorded 49 mm of rains. Rainfall activity is likely to reduce slightly which will further decrease tomorrow.

The reason for the reduction in rains can be attributed to the Cyclonic Circulation over Saurashtra and Kutch becoming less marked and the weakening of the Off Shore Trough.

Thus, for the next few days, Mumbai rains will remain on the lower side with no heavy showers expected in sight.
