At 68 mm, heavy Delhi rains make a comeback

Delhi rains had been playing see saw for the past few days. In fact, the city was witnessing scattered light rains on several occasions. However, for the past one week, the national capital had not even witnessed one day of heavy rainfall.

However, rain gods had something different in store for Delhi and its adjoining areas. In fact, the city recorded heavy rainfall after a long time giving residents relief and dipped temperatures. In a span of 24 hours from 8:30 am on Thursday, Safdarjung observatory recorded a whopping 68 mm of rainfall.

Thus, the month of September has begun on a rainy note and more rains are expected to lash the national capital and its adjoining areas.

Delhi Lightning

These weather conditions are attributed to a few factors. The axis of Monsoon trough at present is passing through North Madhya Pradesh due to which humid south easterly winds are blowing over the national capital.

In view of these condition, moisture levels continue to be at a high. Not only this, the Western Disturbance is also influencing the weather to some extent. Thus, good showers have lashed Delhi as well as the NCR region.

Now, as per weathermen, good showers are expected to continue over Delhi and its adjoining areas. The possibility of isolated heavy showers cannot be ruled out. In fact, areas including Noida, Gurugram, Ghaziabad, Faridabad, will also witness good showers.
