Hyderabad rains had remained far and few for the past few days. In fact, the capital city of Telangana was reeling under the scorching summer heat during this period with temperatures remaining above the 40-degree mark almost all the time.

However, rain gods decided to bestow some kindness over the city of Hyderabad din the form of rain and thundershowers. The city of Nizams received a whopping 61 mm of rainfall during the last 24 hours. These rains were also accompanied by a few spells of hailstorm over the region.

These weather conditions were attributed to the presence of a trough extending from the central parts of the country across Telangana up to Tamil Nadu. Not only this, moisture incursion was also taking place from both Bay of Bengal as well as the Arabian Sea.

During the late afternoon hours, the Biryani city received heavy to very heavy rains. After intense heating, the moisture incursion from the seas resulted in intense cloud build up over the region during the afternoon hours after which rains along with gusty winds accompanied by hailstorm followed.

As per weathermen at Skymet Weather, the persisting trough has shifted a little and is now across the Rayalaseema region. Due to this, the rainfall intensity may reduce over Hyderabad during the next 24 hours. However, light to moderate rains will continue over the city until tomorrow. In fact, the possibility of isolated heavy spells cannot be ruled out as well.
