At 39.6 degrees, Delhi blisters with heatwave conditionsDelhi temperatures have been reaching sky high for quite some time now. So much so that the weather gods have been wreaking havoc over the national capital. In fact, the maximum temperatures over the city have been only increasing each day.

Yesterday, maximums reached new heights. Palam observatory recorded its maximum at 39.6 degrees which happens to be the highest for the past six years in the month of March. A day before, the maximum in Delhi had reached 39 degrees. The last time the city recorded such high temperatures was on March 27, 2010 at 41.3 degrees.

As far as the Safdarjung observatory is concerned, maximums have been soaring with the temperature settling at 38.2 degrees which is the highest since the last six years. Other areas in Delhi and the NCR region have also been witnessing very high maximums.

Delhi University’s maximum is settling at 38.4°C, Ayanagar 38.6 degrees, Narela 37.5 degrees and Ridge at 39.5 degree Celsius. Thus, afternoons in the entire city have been unbearable and uneasy for the past few days and this trend is expected to continue.

The average maximums for these regions during the month of March are below the 30-degree mark. Not only this, the maximum temperatures are also settling at least 5 to 6 degrees above the normal levels.

Delhi at present is witnessing the scorching summer heat with heatwave like conditions in several parts. Now, during the next two days, temperatures will settle well above the normal levels. No relief is in sight for the aforementioned areas for at least 24 hours.
