Mumbai weather usually remains dry between the months of January and April. In fact, even if the city receives some rains it is nothing more than about a millimetre during a month. As far as mild winters are concerned, these conditions last over the city of Mumbai until the mid of January and start to recede thereafter.
The month of February sees signs of warming while temperatures soar significantly in March as the thick of summers begin for Mumbai during that time. Currently, temperatures have been on the higher side.
In fact, yesterday was quite a hot day for the city of Mumbai. So much so that the Santa Cruz observatory recorded the maximum at a whopping 37.6 degrees Celsius, which happens to be the highest of the season.

This season, the maximum crossed the 35-degree mark at least five times but did not reach at 37.6 degrees until yesterday. However, this scorching weather over the city of Mumbai is not an unusual affair as the city has seen such temperatures in February in the past years as well. Meanwhile, there have been four times in the past ten years that the maximum remained around 36 degrees or less.
Such high temperatures are an indication towards the sweltering summer season which is in the offing. It is even logical to say so since the sun will now travel northwestwards and cross the equator which will further heat up the conditions in Mumbai.
With increased land heat, the differential heating i.e. the contrast between land and sea temperatures, will also increase as sea temperatures do not increase much. The higher is the differential heating, the stronger are the sea breezes that blow over the region.
Thus, the next couple of days will see no relief in terms of temperatures. However, after about a week or so, a respite is expected in the evening hours due to the strong breeze prevailing over the region.
