At 3 degrees, Delhi sees lowest minimum of season

Delhi and the NCR have seen the coldest day of the season with the minimum being recorded at 3 degrees Celsius, which is 4 degrees below the normal, resulting in cold wave conditions over the region. In fact, other parts of Delhi and the NCR region even saw minimums below the 3-degree mark wherein Ayanagar recorded 2.2 degrees Celsius, Lodhi Road 2.8 degrees Celsius, Ridge 2.8 degrees, and Ujwa 2.3 degrees.

In fact, yesterday cold day conditions had also been observed over the Delhi NCR region. Talking about fog, dense fog did make an appearance over Delhi today and the visibility at the Palam airport was at 50 m for four hours between 4 AM and 8 AM.

Delhi usually witnesses minimums below 4 degrees in January. In fact, if you look at the last 10 years, there have been days that have recorded minimum below the 4° mark. The table below shows the lowest minimum in the month of January for each year in the last decade.

Now, there may be some marginal relief in terms of temperatures after tomorrow as a fresh Western disturbance is expected to approach the Western Himalayas which may result in some relief from ongoing conditions as temperatures will increase.
